Cavalry vs squares

Post by stecal on Sun Oct 08, 2017 10:48 pm

Squares are not tough enough.  Even without impetus cavalry can frontally beat a square  often enough to be a problem.  Once the infantry retreat, they & anything in the way, are done in by the pursuit that does not suffer defensive fire or evasion/counter charges.

I would give squares a +3 in combat vs cavalry, a +2 in CTs vs cavalry, and instead of retreating they should stand in place and take another hit.

Cavalry in contact with FP that draw should be forced to retreat disordered.

Also, why is defensive fire only happening on a 4+, 5+ if disordered? This should be easy for a troops to do.

I think you forgot that in Baroque that B class reactions happen on a 4+ and with +2 FOR DEFENSIVE FIRE FOR ALL UNITS. I.E. defensive fire in BB should really be 2+, 3+ if disordered
