Saladin at the Gates and the Fiery Hordes

We've been playing Saladin at the Gates, the Impetus campaign and a ot of fun it has been.

We ran into one thing concerning a special rule with Saracen fanatic hordes and their setting of fires.

There were two schools of thought:

[list][*]The first was that, once successfully started and reacted to by enemy within 10U, the fire ceased to have any effect. This was a problem to some of us who pointed out that it didn't stop units as little as 11U away from ignoring it to attack unaffected in the same area and turn.

[list][*]The second was that it burned for a turn then had to be reset each turn. It was understood that this was not specified as such in the special rule but it seemed more logical than the "set and forget" theory.

The first is strictly correct, the second seemed more logical. I can live with either but would like to have a definitive answer as they are such fun to use.

Also re flank marches.
In the original rules there were no flank marches at all.
So my thoughts are when EI2 and Saladin at the Gates campaign came out this special 'Flank march' rule was added in.
Since then Advanced Impetus has been released and flank marches have been covered with a 12U from the edge of the table deployment zone.
To add the " The units will enter with one Movement " on top of this 12U is wrong in my opinion. Advanced Impetus supersedes this.....and is in fact an improvement as all units get to deploy 12U in instead of just one move.

Hello,
I'm the Author of ''Saladin at the Gates'' campaign and I'm glad to clarify these matters.
About ''fires'', please consider them like obstacles rather than weapons...
then the ''fires'' remain active as long as the Hordes don't move (they are committed to feed fires). If the Hordes move then the fires cease.
(It's like hunting, the fires push the preys into trap !!!)

About Flank March you can choose to use the official rule
but I recommend the simple rule of campaign game (in this case).
