group movement

Post by raf on Fri Sep 16, 2016 7:12 pm

I just started to play Impetus and I have a question about group movement.
3 units form a group wich moved twice. After the second movement the group takes a discipline test and fails. Are the 3 units now disordered?

thanks

This is true.

the groups tests to fail/pass

once failed individual units test to regain order.

So lets say you have a group of three units and they become disordered. Do you have to perform a test for each unit and if they all pass do you simply put them back together again, or do you do one test for the entire units that used to be a group?

Yes you activate and test one unit at a time to the completion of the unit's activation.

Once the units are disordered they cannot be part of a group. You have to activate them one at a time, so even if they pass they cannot become part of a group that activation.

For instance, you have your three units ABC  which were a group but became discorded. Next turn you activate unit A and it passes, and chooses to remain stationary. It may well still be adjacent to unit B but it can't be a group with B as B is still disordered. So you activate B and pass the test, you still can't be a group because A has already activated and C is disordered. So you activate C and fail the test.

Next turn you can activate AB as a group or you can activate C and take the test - however you won't be able to activate ABC as a group until the following turn (assuming C passes this turn).

Is that clear?
